A Community Improvement Initiative
JOHARA's Closet
Clothing, Hygiene, Household Items and Furniture
For Displaced Families and Individuals
The JOHARA Initiative provides clothing for individuals or families that have experienced an unforeseen circumstance such as fire or storms, loss of income or families receiving any type of government assistance. We also offer assistance for those in need of clothing for job interviews. Individuals may be referred or may contact JOHARA Initiative when in need. Those receiving clothing will register with JOHARA Initiative and donations are given based on inventory and availability. Proof of circumstance or assistance must be provided before receiving donations.
The JOHARA Initiative also accepts furniture, hygiene and household items. Hygiene products and underwear must be new and in its original packaging. Clothing drives are held periodically and several businesses also serve as donation sites. In the event of community emergencies, the JOHARA Initiative will hold an emergency drive to provide clothing for those in need. The JOHARA Initiative utilizes social media sites for its clothing drives but the names of clients are not disclosed.
This program relies heavily on donations from within the community and local businesses. We accept clean, gently used clothing from individuals and organizations. Several businesses throughout Houston also donate clothing to the JOHARA Initiative.
If you are aware of someone in need of clothing, would like to host a clothing drive, or would like to make a donation, email us and we will schedule a delivery or pick up time. If we are able to provide clothing we will contact the individual or family if we have the inventory. Please allow two to three business days for a response. If you would like more information, feel free to email joharalife@gmail.com to arrange pick up or delivery. Your donations are tax deductible and receipts are provided.
The JOHARA Initiative thanks all of its contributors and businesses that support this program. Without the help of those in the community, we could not be of assistance to those in need.
