“Building a Better Tomorrow, Today”
A Community Improvement Initiative
Pashaa Simmons-Green
Hello, My name is Pashaa Simmons-Green and I am the Co-Founder and Chief Financial Officer of the JOHARA Initiative. I am a wife to a wonderful husband Melvin Green, and the mother of three beautiful daughters Destinei (age 22), Brooke-Lynn (age 16), and Madison (age 7).
I have been active in the community for more than 30 years with various philanthropic, social, and governmental work in the community beginning at the age of 9. I have served on numerous committees as well as served in various organizations most of my life. I have served as Board President to my local PTO, as being active in my community and helping children is my calling.
I have faced many adversities and have acquired a wealth of knowledge in ‘how to pick yourself up’, and move forward. My initial calling ‘i thought’ was dance. I was a dancer for 11 years of my first 17 years of life. In my senior year of HS i shattered my knee and ruined my promising dance career. I went thru bouts of depression and struggled to find my ‘purpose’.
So after marriage and beginning our family I went into the Finance Industry serving as a Cash Management Analyst for a Global Mutual Fund Company. I ‘thought’ I found my calling, as many do and I began my career as a Stock Broker. But making money simply didn't afford me the satisfaction i needed both MIND, BODY, and SPIRIT.
So here we are at the formation of JOHARA Initiative. Robbie and I have been Sister/Friends for 20 years and I couldn't be more honored to embark upon such an endeavor with a more deserving and service filled spirit. Kanesha is one of the most humble spirits you will meet, so we welcome you to aid us in walking in our purpose.
Most would describe me as a pro-active, and gutsy woman. So my motto is:
IT’S NOT YOUR APTITUDE, BUT YOUR ATTITUDE WHICH DETERMINES YOUR ALTITUDE
Be blessed!
